I've heard good things about Gothic Body on Farwell Ave, lately. Also, a friend of mine had a beautiful tattoo done at Body Ritual in the Prospect Mall. Hard to believe you could get a decent tattoo at the mall, but I guess the Prospect Mall isn't a typical mall, really.

I guess it depends on how fanatical you are. Most of the die-hards I know get their tats in Chicago by more renowned artists, but if you go that route you will probably pay 2 or 3 times as much.

I am going to get a kanji on my hand. Something simple, but I want to make sure it's done right!

What will your kanji say? Be careful. A friend of mine got what he thought was the symbol of 'Earth' (like the element) on his shoulder, but a Japanese friend told us it means dirt.

Someone recommended 'Atom Bomb' to me just the other day, though he said it was spelled A-D-A-M. Anyway that's two good recommendations for the joint, I'd probably start there.

adam at atombomb was really attentive and kind of cleaned the edges of the drawings i brought him.

i've been to the place in the prospect mall, and the atmosphere creeps me out.

for me, adam is da bomb!

Excellent. I'm glad it worked out. I guess, we can now safely say Adambomb is one of the best, if not THE best.

I'd consider asking people who had work done locally, where their ink is more than a year old. Find out which artists did their work, and track him or her down. Seems to me that unless the artist owns the shop, they're likely to bounce between parlors.

I'm very pleased with what I had done about six years ago at Gothic Body by Jeremy (forgot the last name). Last I heard, he was at Bodyworks on S 76th.

I feel I MUST respond to this as I have 11 tattoos and have never had the same artist twice...

Adam did a GREAT cover up for me 6 years ago that still looks great today. (He was at Black Dragon in Waukesha at the time) By far, hands down, my favorite.

Gothic body did a great job on some tribal work I had done.

Modern Images in Racine did some great tribal for me as well.

There is a fellow named Matt that did a terrible job on me and refused to fix it for free, as he promised during the tattoo. (He was at Hog Heaven in Racine at the time of tattoo, now at Wild Rose)

Now I'm grateful to say I personally know someone now and hopefully wont have to go to a shop for awhile *whew*

      Thank you Brian and Kelli.

When I posted this, over a year ago, I ended up going to Adam Bomb.

In the beginning of this summer I went to my 2nd tattoo, with Jeremy at Gothic Body!

      Both are great artists!!

      :)
